With the release of New Moon, it was Vampire vs. Werewolf as New Moon fans pledged their allegiance to either Team Edward – the heart stopping 109 year old vampire played by Robert Pattinson, or Team Jacob – the new werewolf on the block with a soft spot for Bella played by Taylor Lautner.

1)    She can see into the future

Like Edward, Alice has a very special talent, she can see into the future. This talent enables her to find the love of her life, Jasper, and also proves itself to be helpful to the Cullens and Bella throughout the saga.

2)    She’s the most stylish of the vampires

Famed in the books for her quirky dress sense, in the film Alice Cullen dresses to impress, with a popular pixie style haircut and style that puts the rest of the vampire women to shame! Ashley Greene who plays Alice is also the face of StopStaring.com, a website that sells retro-style dresses.

3)    She’s not afraid to break rules

Alice is on board with Bella becoming a vampire from the start of the saga, against the wishes of many of her vampire family. When she sees that Edward is about to reveal himself and evoke the wrath of the Volturi in New Moon, she steals a Porsche 911 turbo, a car she falls so in love with she asks Edward to buy her one in Eclipse.

4)    She’s played by the beautiful and talented Ashley Greene

Author of the books Stephanie Meyer said that Ashley Greene was the actress who came closest to her vision for their character. She said, "I saw a picture of her and just thought, 'You found Alice! Oh my gosh!'" Ashley Greene is also a model as well as an actress, working for big names such as Dolce & Gabana.

In the novels Alice has some of the funny and more sarcastic lines, and this is echoed in both films, such as calmly saying to Bella when she has stolen the Porsche “I didn't think you would be opposed to grand theft auto”. In real life Ashley Greene is also a bit of a comedian herself, having appeared on US comedy shows Punk’d and MAD TV.

6)    She is loyal to her family and friends

Alice loves Bella as if she was her own sister despite her vampire urge to kill her. She saves both Edward and Bella’s lives in New Moon, firstly by bringing Bella to stop Edward from getting killed by the Volturi, and secondly by telling the Volturi she has seen visions of Bella as a vampire in order to stop them from hurting her.

7)    She is VERY important in Breaking Dawn

....Now that would be telling wouldn’t it?

 New Moon is released on DVD and Blu-ray on March 22nd.
